We were robbed on an infield fly call but got one back on a runner hit by batted ball. Not exactly “even stevens” even though they both represented the first and second outs in consecutive innings. A difference was they didn’t understand the rule to ask the umpire to reconsider the call and we (Matt actually) argued vehemently for relief from an incorrect ruling. While there is a much incorrect as correct information on the internet, the summary of all the sites I visited today is “If the ball drops, a runner has the opportunity to make it to the next base. In this case, the defence must tag the runner out, because there is no force in effect.” Matt was right, the umpire was wrong.
I didn’t see the end of the game so I can’t write much of a report. Happy to receive submissions.
