Last game before the Christmas was surprisingly hot, and exhausting. Not the Christmas season of the northern hemisphere of snow persons and ice skating. But I delay talking about the game.

Quick summary – we didn’t throw enough strikes and we didn’t bat well enough. Not that there wasn’t considerable effort in both areas, but the execution didn’t meet our need.

I thought Adam had a high effort game, throwing his body onto a surface that had more in common with a brickyard than a baseball diamond. He also pitched his first innings exceptional well and gave us an opportunity to score some runs and push to reduce the lead. He was also one of the few that had a hit and drove in a run.

Perhaps less obvious to many, but Dave’s effort behind the plate was outstanding, particularly because the pitching in most innings was a “little” wayward. Chasing to ball to the net takes a lot of effort. He did it without complaint in warm conditions and still managed to frame a few pitches.

I think that’s all for now, except to say to all have a happy and safe Christmas and I look forward to seeing everyone again in 2024.

Next game: St Pats v Bosco (B) at Tom Evans 2 on 12:30 Sun (14/01)
